In the Village of Plainfield, individuals that will be doing door-to-door sales or leaving literature at residences must have a Solicitor Permit and may visit residences between the hours of 9:00am and 7:00pm.

If you wish to apply for a Solicitor Permit, the fee is $50.00 for the first applicant and $35 for each additional applicant (up to 15 employees per company) for 60 days. It takes at least five (5) working days to process the application. All individuals that will be soliciting must be listed on the application along with their full name, date of birth, and driver's license number, if applicable. Each applicant must also provide a photo (similar to a passport photo) to be attached to the permit which must be worn at all times while soliciting. A background check is performed on all individuals listed to ensure the safety of our citizens.

Please note: Any literature that will be handed to residents MUST be provided at the time the application is received by Records. If you are “Doing Business As” (DBA), the application should also indicate you are DBA, in addition to the parent name of the company.

Solicitor permits shall not be granted to any individuals selling from a truck, nor shall there be any solicitation on public roadways or temporary stands in front of businesses.
